Southwest Cards Compared

What changes for Companion Pass in 2027?
Starting January 1, 2027, credit card welcome bonuses no longer count toward Companion Pass. The Companion Pass 2027 guide walks through the new rules: 95,000 Tier Qualifying Points or 75 qualifying flights for three Companion Pass trips, or 140,000 Tier Qualifying Points or 100 flights for unlimited trips with Platinum status. Card spending still earns one Tier Qualifying Point per dollar. The bonus points remain Rapid Rewards points you can use for flights.
Southwest's own pages are the source for that change: Companion Pass in 2027 and Rapid Rewards updates for 2027. The seat benefits in the tables are current card benefits from Chase, not a separate 2027 seating promise.

- Personal cards are $99, $149, and $229. Business cards are $149 and $299.
- Premier Business: 80,000 points after $3,000 spend in 3 months.
- From January 1, 2027, those welcome bonuses do not count toward Companion Pass.
