Reserve Business vs Ink Preferred
The Sapphire Reserve for Business bonus is 200,000 points after $30,000 spend in 6 months, and the card has a $795 annual fee. The Ink Business Preferred bonus is 100,000 points after $8,000 spend in 3 months, and that card has a $95 annual fee. The cheaper card earns more when you will not use the Reserve credits and cannot comfortably spend $30,000.

When does the cheaper card earn more?
Ink Preferred asks for $8,000 in 3 months and costs $95 a year. Reserve for Business asks for $30,000 in 6 months and costs $795. If that spend is not money the business was going to spend, the larger bonus is not free.
Reserve for Business transfers to World of Hyatt at 1:1. Ink Business Preferred transfers at 4:3, the ratio in place since October 1, 2026. That Hyatt gap is a real reason to keep Reserve if Hyatt awards are the point of the spend. It is not a reason to pay $795 when the credits go unused.
The Reserve credits in the card data: Up to $300 per anniversary year. Purchases covered by the credit don't earn points. Up to $500 a year, maximum $250 per transaction, two-night minimum. Purchases that qualify do not earn points. From January 1, 2027, up to $1,000 a year with two additional $250 credits. Up to $250 through Dec. 31, 2026 at IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin, Minor, and Pan Pacific. Prepaid, two-night minimum. Up to $200 a year on purchases made directly with Google Workspace. Up to $400 a year ($200 Jan.–Jun., $200 Jul.–Dec.). $10 a month, up to $120 a year, through Sept. 30, 2027. Up to $120 every four years.
Both cards are business cards. Read the Ultimate Rewards hub for how they sit next to Freedom Flex and the personal Sapphire cards.
Key takeaways
- Reserve for Business: $795, 200,000 points after $30,000 spend in 6 months, Hyatt at 1:1.
- Ink Preferred: $95, 100,000 points after $8,000 spend in 3 months, Hyatt at 4:3.
- Choose Ink Preferred when the Reserve credits and the $30,000 spend are not realistic.
