Hyatt Transfer Ratios by Credit Card (2026-2027)

Chase Sapphire Reserve transfers to Hyatt at 1:1. Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred now transfer at 4:3 (since October 1, 2026). Bilt transfers stay 1:1 until December 31, 2026, then drop to 4:3 on January 1, 2027.

Two major changes hit Hyatt transfer ratios in fall 2026. Chase cut the transfer ratio from 1:1 to 4:3 for Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred cardholders on October 1, 2026. Bilt announced that its Hyatt transfers will drop from 1:1 to 4:3 starting January 1, 2027. Here's the complete breakdown by card.

What the 4:3 Ratio Means in Practice

A 4:3 transfer ratio means you need to transfer 40,000 points to receive 30,000 Hyatt points. That's 33% more points required for the same award compared to the old 1:1 ratio.

Which Card Should You Use to Transfer to Hyatt?

Best: Chase Sapphire Reserve (1:1)

The $550 annual fee is steep, but if you frequently transfer to Hyatt, the 1:1 ratio saves significant points. A single 60,000-point transfer saves you 20,000 Chase UR compared to the Sapphire Preferred's 4:3 ratio.

Good Through 2026: Bilt Mastercard (1:1 until Dec 31)

If you have Bilt points and plan to book Hyatt stays before early 2027, transfer before January 1, 2027 to get the 1:1 ratio. After that, Bilt matches the 4:3 ratio.

Acceptable: Sapphire Preferred or Bilt (4:3 starting 2027)

Still viable for Hyatt transfers, just less efficient. Factor the 33% premium into your redemption calculations.

Should You Transfer Now or Wait?

Only transfer if you have a specific, bookable award in mind. Hyatt's award chart can change, and transferring speculatively locks your points into a single program.

That said, if you:

  • Have Bilt points and confirmed Hyatt availability for a trip in Q1-Q2 2027, transfer before December 31, 2026
  • Hold a Sapphire Preferred and are considering upgrading to the Reserve, do the fee-breakeven math first
  • Are planning multiple Hyatt stays in 2027 and hold the Reserve, the 1:1 ratio remains the best deal
